How to convert

  1. Drop the image, or paste it from the clipboard.
  2. Set the label size and your printer's density. The image is scaled to its pixel size, the label width or the whole label.
  3. Move the threshold until the preview looks right; turn on dithering for photos.
  4. Copy the ZPL or download the .zpl file and send it to the printer.

Questions

How do I put a logo in ZPL?

Convert the logo to a ^GFA graphic here, then copy the ^FO…^GFA…^FS line into your label where the logo goes. To reuse it on many labels, store it once on the printer with ~DG and print it with ^XG instead of sending it every time.

Hex or Z64: which should I use?

Both print the same. Hex (ASCII) is what every Zebra printer accepts; Z64 is the same bitmap compressed and is usually several times smaller, which matters for big logos and slow links. Current Zebra firmware reads Z64; for a very old printer, use hex.

Why does my image look blotchy or too dark?

Thermal printers print black or nothing, no greys. Move the threshold: lower keeps fewer dots, higher keeps more. For photos and gradients turn on dithering, which turns shades into dot patterns.

Is my image uploaded?

No. It is read and converted in this browser, and nothing is sent to a server.
